Louis Kalff – Major / Timur Table Lamp – Philips – 1960s

Officially, this Philips table lamp is called Major, although some people know the model as Timur. Louis Kalff designed the lamp in the 1960s. Its black lacquered metal base and shade meet a silver shaft, a characteristic detail in Kalff’s lighting designs.

Moreover, the refined silhouette gives the lamp a timeless appearance. Place it on a desk, side table, console or bedside table to create a focused pool of light and a strong decorative accent. Moreover, the dark metal works well with wood, glass, chrome and colourful vintage furniture.

In addition, the proportions keep the design elegant without making it fragile. At the same time, the silver shaft adds a clear vertical element between the base and shade. This contrast gives the lamp its distinctive character.

Finally, the lamp remains in very good condition with only minor signs of age. Please study the photographs carefully for the exact appearance of the lacquer, shade, base and shaft.
