Raak – Cube Light – Set of 2 – Paul Driessen – Dutch – 1970s

Paul Driessen designed this set of two Raak Cube Lights for Raak in 1974. Each lamp appears to hold a floating opaline perspex cube, creating a graphic and architectural effect when the light is on.

The design dates from the same year that Piet Blom built the first cube houses. Both designs use a strong geometric structure, which makes these lamps especially interesting in a postmodern or Dutch design interior.

For example, the lamps work well as floor lights or console lamps. Place them beside a sofa, on a sideboard or near an entrance to create a sculptural light source. Moreover, the cubic form creates a clear contrast with round furniture and softer textiles.

Raak Amsterdam made the lamps in the Netherlands. They have minor signs of age and use, including light scratches and dents. Finally, please study the photographs carefully for the exact appearance of both lamps.
