Ferrari – Toucan Lamp – Orange – Old Timer – 1970

This orange Ferrari Toucan lamp dates from 1970 and was designed by Enea Ferrari for Old Timer Ferrari. The playful plastic form gives the lamp a distinctive character and makes it a memorable object for a children’s room, colourful interior or vintage lighting collection. Its bright orange finish adds an immediate accent, even when the lamp is switched off.

Ferrari Toucan lamp by Enea Ferrari

In 1964, the young Veronese designer Enea Ferrari founded Old Timer Ferrari. The company produced objects, accessories and lighting fixtures. A few years later, in 1970, Ferrari launched the Toucan Lamp. The model became an early example of a plastic children’s lamp with a strong graphic personality.

Three years after the Toucan Lamp appeared, Old Timer Ferrari changed its name to Linea Zero. Ferrari continued to develop playful and recognisable lighting designs, including the Pink Panther, Biplane, Snoopy and British Red Phone Box lamps. Therefore, the Toucan lamp is part of an important early chapter in the company’s Italian design history.

Colourful vintage lighting

The orange colour makes this Toucan lamp easy to combine with 1970s furniture, postmodern objects and playful children’s interiors. It can also work as a conversation piece on a shelf or side table. In addition, the sculptural plastic body gives the lamp visual interest from different angles.
