Gastone Rinaldi Velvet Swivel Chairs – Set of 2 – Rima – 1960s

This pair of vintage Italian swivel chairs is attributed to Gastone Rinaldi and associated with Rima. Each chair combines a softly flared back with deep button tufting and a dark brown velvet or velour cover. In addition, the four-star metal base gives the seat a balanced profile and allows it to rotate. Together, the chairs bring a strong mid-century accent to a living room, office or reading area.

Rima swivel chair design

Gastone Rinaldi worked with Rima, the Italian furniture company founded by his father. These chairs reflect the period’s interest in expressive shapes and comfortable lounge seating. The curved back and generously padded seat soften the graphic lines of the swivel base. As a result, each chair feels inviting while retaining a clear sculptural outline.

The dark brown upholstery adds warmth and depth. Meanwhile, the button tufting catches the light and emphasises the shape of the backrest. Because the chairs rotate, they can turn easily toward a conversation, desk or view. Use the pair together around a small table, or place them separately as distinctive vintage accent chairs.
