Louis Kalff – Junior – Orange – Table Lamp – Philips – 1950s
An iconic Dutch mid-century table lamp designed by Louis Kalff for Philips in the 1950s. The “Junior” model is one of Kalff’s most recognizable lighting designs, with its perforated mushroom-shaped shade, elegant curved stem and compact round base. The warm orange finish gives the lamp a strong sculptural presence, while the perforations in the shade create a beautiful atmospheric glow when lit. Based on the photos, this example shows honest vintage wear consistent with age and use, which suits the character of the piece well.
Louis Kalff was one of the key figures in Philips design history. Philips credits much of its early design identity to Kalff, who joined the company in 1925 and helped shape its visual language across products, graphics and architecture. That broader design importance is part of why original Kalff lighting remains collectible today.
