IKEA – Pyssel – Lamp – Johanna Egnell – Sweden – 2003

A rare and sculptural Pyssel lamp designed by Johanna Egnell for IKEA in 2003. This model was part of the IKEA PS collection, the brand’s more experimental Post Scriptum line, and appears to have been produced for just one year. With its thick white plastic body, rounded corners and block-like feet, the lamp has a strong postmodern character while still feeling minimal and playful. It works beautifully as a low floor lamp or as a sculptural light object on a table or pedestal.

Johanna Egnell is a Swedish designer who later co-founded Egnell Allard. Her early work for IKEA sits within that more collectible PS tradition, where limited-run designs were made in smaller windows than IKEA’s regular range.
