Jasp for Hexagon Design – Mensa Stools – Set of 4 – The Netherlands – 1970s / 1980s

This rare set of four Mensa stools was designed by Jasp for Hexagon Design in the Netherlands. The sculptural white stools are made from moulded plastic and have a strong geometric, almost honeycomb-like form. Seen together, the repeated shapes create a particularly interesting group, while each stool remains useful on its own.

The compact design allows the stools to work in several ways. Use them as extra seats when guests arrive, as small side tables beside a sofa or as modular occasional pieces in a studio. Their low profile keeps them easy to move, and the white surface makes the set fit into both colourful and restrained interiors.

The pattern is the main visual feature. Openings and angled surfaces create shadows around each stool, so the forms change slightly as the light moves across them. In addition, the matching set gives a room a coherent graphic accent without adding heavy visual mass.
