IKEA – Vilbert – Verner Panton – 1993
This chair is called Vilbert and is designed by Verner Panton. It was launched in 1993 and ended in 1994. Verner designed it for IKEA who had it in stores for a short while. Only 3000 to 4000 Vilbert chairs were produced. Since sales were not as good as expected, many of the chairs were taken out of the stores and some say even taken out of production to be destroyed. Nowadays these chairs have become rare items.
Verner Panton was one of the most influential figures in design history, legendary for pushing the boundaries of form and materials in the 1960s and 1970s.
This rare Vilbert chair is good condition, but it’s missing its original label. It’s made from high-quality melamine board.
