Description

This IKEA Salve stool by Ehlén Johansson combines a light wood frame with a curved red bentwood seat. Designed for IKEA in 2002, it has a clean, practical form with a vivid colour accent. This is the lower version of Salve, rather than the taller bar stool. Metal stretchers complete the frame.

The design balances a simple structure with an expressive seat. For example, the light wood keeps the frame visually calm, while the red surface gives the stool character. In addition, the curved seat softens the straight lines beneath it. Together, these details create a distinctive early-2000s IKEA look.

Its compact dimensions make the stool easy to place within a room. Use it as an extra seat when guests visit or as a small accent beside a sofa. Alternatively, position it near a desk or in a reading corner. Before choosing a table to pair with it, check the 53 cm height against the available clearance.

Materials and dimensions

The wooden frame supports a bentwood seat with a red finish. Meanwhile, metal stretchers add another material and a clear horizontal detail. The stool measures 42 cm wide and 35 cm deep, so its footprint remains compact. These proportions are useful when planning a smaller interior or adding occasional seating.
