Eileen Gray – Transat Chair – Ecart International – 1980s

What a thing of beauty. Structure in black-lacquered beechwood, with an adjustable headrest. Chromed joints. Upholstered in leather. Designed for use on the terrace of Eileen’s house E1027 at Roquebrune Cap Martin, the ‘fauteuil transatlantique’ takes as its starting point transatlantic steamship travel and the deckchairs used on such ships.

This is an 20st century edition by Ecart International of a “1927 Transat” armchair by Eileen Gray with tilting head-rest and is in used but great vintage condition.
