A chair made from bold, geometric panels was never going to blend quietly into a room. Designed by Verner Panton, VILBERT brought a vivid, sculptural presence to IKEA’s 1995 catalogue.
The Swedish edition marked it as a new arrival and listed a version in red melamine-coated fibreboard with plastic edging. At just 42 × 54 cm and 84 cm high, it made a striking impression without taking up much room.
VILBERT was a rare meeting of Panton’s unmistakable colour and shape with IKEA’s everyday furniture world. Would you have given this graphic little chair a place at your table?
